This tour is sold out!

Preserve Minneapolis is sponsoring a tour of 418 3rd Ave. North in Minneapolis, a recently renovated building in the warehouse district. On this tour, you’ll learn what needed to be done to bring a 100+-year-old building up to modern standards. In three years, the building will be available for general leasing. For now, it is being leased as temporary office space by the Kraus Anderson Construction Company, which is building two big high-rise buildings directly behind 418 3rd Ave. No.

Our tour guide will be Jeff Garetz, proprietor of Load-Bearing, Inc., a construction management company that has orchestrated the contractors and sub-contractors that renovated the building. Jeff has more than 50 years of experience in the building industry.

Discussion Panel: Minneapolis Brutalism

Join the Preserve Minneapolis Events Committee for a lively panel discussion over one of architecture’s most divisive forms: Brutalism. Spurred on by recent conversations surrounding 21 N. Washington Avenue (the Knutson Construction headquarters recently slated for demolition), we will tackle questions of design, material, conservation, sustainability, and identity in the form of these beloved (or loathed) concrete “monstrosities.”

We will be joined by panelists Todd Grover, Dick Kronick, Bill Lindeke, and Bob Roscoe.

FREE but RSVP required: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/minneapolis-brutalism-tickets-149636979233
