Minneapolis city leaders ordered the twelve-story Romanesque Revival stone masterpiece in downtown to be demolished in 1962. The city's preservation activists did nothing to stop it.
At that time the historic preservation movement did not yet exist in Minneapolis.
Join us February 22 at Mill City Museum's ADM Room on the Seventh floor for a discussion about this magnificent structure, a narrative of why this tragedy happened, and how this loss engendered the historic preservation movement that has since safeguarded Minneapolis' architectural heritage.
Metered parking is available along South Second Street and at a ramp across the street from the Museum. Coffee and bakery treats wil be available with a small donation requested.
We typically start a few minutes after 8 and finish promptly at 9:00.
