The Homewood subdivision in North Minneapolis offers a rich history of cultural and socioeconomic trends that was developed in the early Twentieth Century. Homewood was intended to be a middle class neighborhood, which it continues to be today. The neighborhood features houses with a variety of architectural styles, over-sized lots, mandatory 35-foot front setbacks and stone pillars bearing street names that give the district a sense of identity and a distinct prominence.
Alex Young, intern architect with Collaborative Design Group, prepared the nomination for the potential historic district, which may come before the city council later this year.
Join us in the ADM Room on 7th Floor of the Mill City Museum. Please bring a dollar or two for coffee and sweet treats, and try to arrive a bit early in order to find a parking place and meet your friends. Street parking on South 2nd Street is usually available, and a parking lot is across the street.
