Join Preserve Minneapolis for our first Evening Exploration of 2018!
We're delighted to be hosted by Saturday Properties and AWH Architects to tour their recently completed renovation of The Maytag, located at 515 Washington Avenue North.
Built in 1916 for Maytag Appliances Company, the building spent most of its history as the home to Gardner Hardware. Until its doors closed for good in 2015, Gardner Hardware was one of the oldest running hardware stores in Minneapolis - dating back to 1884. They occupied the space at 515 Washington Avenue N for 60 years.
When Saturday Properties took ownership of the building in 2016, they opted to hearken back to the its original purpose, as a showroom for the Maytag Company. A history that is still prominent on the building's signage, etched above the front door. The renovation included converting the upper three floors into office space. The street level is now home to one of the North Loop's most talked about new restaurants, NOLO's Kitchen and we will be concluding our tour with drinks at the Basement Bar, which is literally located in basement level of the building.
As a part of our tour we'll hear from representatives from the developer,Saturday Properties, and the architect, AWH Architects as they walk us through the process of transitioning a 100 year old building into a trendy office and dining hot-spot. Depending on weather, we MAY even get the opportunity to check out the rooftop.
Thank you to Saturday Properties and AWH Architects for partnering with us on this awesome event.
We look forward to seeing YOU there!
